THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN LOOKING FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT DRESS

When searching for your elopement dress there are a few things to consider such as comfort, location, season and personal style. Below are a few tips to help you find your elopement dress.

COMFORT IS KEY: On your elopement day you want to not only feel confident but also comfortable. Most of your elopement day you will be spent in a dress so make sure that your dress doesn't feel heavy or weighing you down!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT FABRIC:

  1. Satin: Known for its shiny luster and smooth finish, satin is one of the most popular and versatile fabrics for elopement dresses. Satin is ideal for cooler weather elopements due to its heavier weight. Although, satin drapes well, it can be stained easily.

  2. Chiffon: Chiffon is a lightweight and delicate fabric perfect if you're going for a flowy look. It's the perfect fabric choice for breezy beach or summer elopements and adds lots of movement in the wind.

  3. Tulle: Similar to chiffon, this fabric is also lightweight and is used to add volume to your elopement dress.

  4. Lace: Lace adds texture, dimension and elegance and will look beautiful in any landscape. Although lace is lightweight and comfortable, this fabric can easily snag on tress and brush and is more susceptible to rips and tears.

  5. Crepe: Crepe is a soft, lightweight fabric and is best if you want an elopement dress that is on the form-fitted side.

  6. Silk: Silk is incredibly versatile and known for its softness and sheen. It has a beautiful, shiny feel and drapes well but can be easily stained.

CONSIDER MOBILITY:

If you're planning an adventurous hiking elopement, such as hiking to the top of a mountain, find a low maintenance dress. Also consider a dress that is both comfortable but also mobile.

CONSIDER LOCATION:

Think about where you plan to elope when choosing an elopement dress. If you're planning on hiking for your elopement choose a more durable fabric for your dress. If you're planning on eloping near the ocean or on a beach opt for a light-weight dress. If you're eloping in a forest, avoid choosing fabric that could get snagged on branches.

THINK ABOUT THE SEASON:

When looking for your elopement dress consider which season you're eloping in. Also think about weather, if you're eloping in the Winter, consider a dress with heavier fabrics like velvet, and satin for more warmth! Light fabrics like chiffon and lace are great for warmer weather such as Summer and early Fall.

REFLECT YOUR STYLE:

Your elopement dress should reflect your personal style and make you feel comfortable and confident. Whether you prefer bohemian, classic, modern, or vintage styles, choose a dress that resonates with your taste.

DON'T FORGET TO ACCESSORIZE:

Think about accessories that go well with your dress. Accessories include veils, headpieces and flower crowns that will compliment your dress and add to your personal style.
