Choosing the Right Season for your Vermont Elopement

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SEASON FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT IN VERMONT

RAE ANN PHOTO | ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT + WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND

Choosing the right season for your Vermont elopement takes a ton of decision making. One of my favorite things about New England seasons are that we have all four of them!! From crisp, crunchy Fall to hot, humid Summers. We have it all! Having lots of season options might sound nice but it can be overwhelming and stressful to just pick one especially if you're a fan of more than one like me!

Below I'm going to cover each season as well as the pros and cons of eloping in all four New England seasons. Hopefully this will give you a good idea about which season to plan your Vermont elopement in and what to expect!

Let's first talk about Summer in Vermont. Now every year is different, we have drier Summers with long droughts and then we have super wet Summers where it's rained every day.

Pros:

Summer sets and rises are out of this world

Everything is so green in Vermont

Lots of fun Summer activities to do!

Lots of Summer flower blooms

Cons:

It can get hot and sticky during the day especially July on early September so either plan on doing a sunrise or sunset elopement where things will be a bit cooler.

VERMONT ELOPEMENT IN THE FALL:

This is arguably the best season in Vermont and one of my favorites! Foliage will vary depending on location but Vermont for example, Foliage starts earlier in the South and later in the North.

Peak foliage in Vermont: Usually mid to late September to early October.

*This will depend on how much rain we get

Pros:

The foliage

Cooler temps

Lots of cute Fall activities to do

Apple cider donuts/cider

Cozy vibes

Fall hiking - remember "be bold, start cold"

Cons:

October can get crazy cold super fast

Hiking can get muddy depending on the rain amount.

VERMONT ELOPEMENT IN THE WINTER:

Ok so for those of you who aren't Winter people can skip to Spring below but I'm just going to quickly tell you that there's a lot Winter in Vermont can offer if you're a Winter lover like me.

Pros:

Snow

Snow activities

Hot chocolate

Cozy vibes

Winter hiking - remember "be bold, start cold"

Cons:

It can get cold af in Vermont

Stick season (think "Noah Kahan")

VERMONT ELOPEMENT IN THE SPRING:

Spring in Vermont is so sweet and pure. The trees and flowers start to bloom and the afternoons start to get warmer! It's still just the right amount of cool though.

Pros:

Everything is starting to get green but won't reach its full green effect until May

Lots of fun Spring activities to do!

Lots of Spring flower blooms

Great temperatures for hiking

Cons:

There may still be snow in the mountains until late April depending on the snowpack

Can get cold at night and in the morning
