How to elope at Cathedral Ledge State Park

If you're dreaming about a mountain top elopement but don't want to hike a ton, Cathedral Ledge is the best spot for you! In this blog I'm going to give you all the info on how to elope on top of Cathedral Ledge.

The one thing you need to know about the ledge is that it's open to the public regardless of the event. You will need to obtain a special use permit of $100 and the maximum capacity is 40 guests.

There are 2 time blocks available each day: Weddings can be booked from May 1st to Nov 1st.

  • Sunrise to 11:30am

  • 12:30pm to Sunset

Hikes:

Bryce Path - This is a 2.0-mile out-and-back trail that leads up to the top of Cathedral Ledge lookout. It's a moderately challenging route that might require some scrambling. In total it takes an average of 1 h 13 min.

Cathedral Ledge from Echo Lake - This is a 2.9-mile out-and-back trail that starts at Echo Lake and goes up to the top of Cathedral Ledge. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 32 min.

Driving up the ledge

You can drive up Cathedral Ledge! It takes about a half hour to drive up the steep road. There is a parking lot and bathroom at the top which makes the ledge easily accessible and convenient for disabled folks.

Bringing your fur babies:

Pets are permitted on hiking trails in the Cathedral and White Horse areas only.

BEST TIME OF YEAR TO ELOPE AT CATHEDRAL LEDGE:

FALL - Fall is one of the best times to view foliage from Cathedral Ledge but it can be a tourist trap during peak traffic times of the day. I would recommend planning for either sunrise or sunset to avoid traffic.

SPRING - Spring is such a good time to elope on top of Cathedral Ledge with all the wildflowers. The park opens 5/1 so just keep that in mind!

SUMMER - Summer is also a great time to elope on top of the ledge but again like Fall it can become busy with hikers and runners during the day. I would recommend planning for either sunrise or sunset to avoid traffic.

Accessing Echo Lake State Park during your elopement:

If you're looking to access Echo Lake the park is open starting 5/4 from 9am to 5pm

Fees:

Adult: 12 and over - $4, age 65 and over - free

Child: 5 & under - free, 6-11 - $2
