Planning your Vermont elopement in the wintertime is one of the best times of year to elope. It's many vendors off season so there will be more availability. It's also important to find a photographer that not only loves Winter but also loves photographing couples in the snow. Winter in Vermont is both chilly, beautiful and magical at the same time!

`

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to plan your Vermont elopement in the Winter:

1. Dream up your perfect Vermont Winter elopement day:

  • Sit down together and write 10 activities/hobbies that you love doing together. Thing about what your ideal day might look like.

2. Book your vendors:

  • Make sure to book your photographer + elopement planner (hi me!) as soon as possible. They can give you vendor recommendations for florist, hair + makeup, timeline planning help + location scouting.

3. Select a location:

  • Vermont offers stunning Winter landscapes from Stowe, Burlington or Southern Vermont. Choose a location that complements you both as a couple, such as a snow-covered field, a cozy cabin or a picturesque mountain backdrop.

4. Find accommodations:

  • Look for nearby accommodations for just the two of you in a cozy cabin or a ski in ski out lodge. Vermont also has charming inns and bed and breakfasts if you planning on having dinner later with family and friends.

5. Getting all the details together:

  • Make sure to have your vow books, any decor for ceremony set-up, attire and dinner reservations if need be.

  • Dress warm! Consider a long-sleeved elopement dress and a stylish coat or throw. Grooms can opt for a winter suit made with tweed or wool.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork to legalize your marriage after the elopement. You must get a license from any Vermont town/city clerk: $80. The license is valid for 60 days from the date it is issued.

Remember, the key to a successful Vermont winter elopement is careful planning and embracing the beauty of the season. There are so many activities to do from snowboarding or skiing, going on a sleigh ride or winter hiking up your favorite mountain, anything is possible.

16. Enjoy the moment:

  • Remember, this is your day so relax and savor the intimate experience of your winter elopement

  • Consider an intimate dinner/reception with your guests or plan a romantic getaway for just the two of you.
