LOCATION SCOUTING AT CATHEDRAL LEDGE

My partner and I headed on the road from our apartment in East Calais, VT on to route 302 all the way to my home state of New Hampshire. We were going to Conway NH where Cathedral Ledge is located. It took about 2 hours for us and is a beautiful drive! Yesterday was location scouting for a maternity session mid May and an elopement early June!

We were both excited to send our first hike of the season up a mountain neither of us had been on yet!

We stopped at the Hungry Bear Cafe in Franconia for some fuel and then headed to the mountain.

As soon as we started heading through the trees I looked up and saw this huge cliff face, nerves and adrenaline were pumping. We found our route, Bryce Trail. The trail head to get to the summit is actually located at Echo Lake State Park.

Quick directions:

Once you get to Echo Lake State Park, instead of going straight, turn right onto Cathedral Ledge Road and you'll hit the trail head.

If you don't feel like hiking, there is an access road so just go past the trail head up to the look out point. It's steep so be careful coming down!

We took the Bryce Trail which is very steep in two spots. The beginning is moderate to expert level (involves a few scrambling spots) and the rest is moderate. It's not a long hike but you'll definitely break a sweat!

Finally we got to the top and started to scope around for a good lunch break spot. We found some rock climbers climbing the ledge down below which made for some awesome photos.

All in all, I 10/10 recommend doing this hike this Summer, it's a beautiful spot and you can view almost all of New England!
