TOP LOCATIONS IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK - RECOMMENDED TO YOU BY AN ACADIA ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
So, you're ditching the big wedding and skipping the planning and endless stress that comes with it? Heck yes! Welcome to the magic of eloping in Acadia National Park—a coastal location where the Atlantic ocean crashes against giant slabs of granite. It's one of my fav places and if you're thinking about eloping here that probably rings true for you too!
Whether you're wanting to hike up a mountain or explore by the ocean, Acadia really does have it all. Here are a few locations to help you think about where you'd like to say your vows.
ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT LOCATIONS:
1. Cadillac Mountain
This location offers panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean and surrounding islands. It's a great spot if you want mountain views for your vows. To elope at Cadillac Mountain you will need a reservation to drive up the summit road. You will need to purchase a daytime pass. For ceremonies with more than 10 people a special use permit is required. Cadillac Mountain allows up to 30 attendees for small weddings!
2. Sand Beach
If you're dreaming of coastal vibes with views of the ocean, sand beach is the perfect spot. Fun fact, it’s the only sandy beach in the park! Sand Beach has a max guest count of 30 people and you will need a special use permit to have your ceremony here.
3. Jordan Pond
Jordan Pond is an ideal wedding location if you want a quiet, dreamy ceremony with “The Bubbles” (two pretty twin peaks) in the background. For a more intimate experience consider going in the early hours or evening around sunrise and sunset.
4. Otter Cliffs
If your love views of the ocean mixed with dramatic cliffs then Otter Cliffs is the perfect spot to say your vows. This location has a max guest count of 20 people.
5. Little Hunters Beach
If you like the coastal vibes but love rocky cliffs and the roundest rocks you've ever seen then you'll love Little Hunters Beach. Say your vows in a private enclosed area surrounded by tall cliffs and trees. This location has a max guest count of 20 people for your wedding.
6. Thunder Hole
This is such a fun spot to hear the sound of the crashing waves into granite while you say your vows!

Bonus Tips for the best Acadia Elopement:
Permits: You’ll need a Special Use Permit from the National Park Service which I can walk you through getting. It's easy—just plan ahead! As I've listed above, some of these locations have a max guest count of up to 30 people so plan accordingly. If you're just eloping just you two, you will not need a permit!
Leave No Trace: As a team, we all will practice LNT while we walk around the park. This means packing everything out as well as respecting nature.
Photographers: Hire an adventure elopement photographer who knows the trails and the tides and how to capture all your best angles!
Seasons Matter:
Spring - the summit road opens end of May which is the perfect time to witness the first flowers popping up!
Winter - Dreamy and straight out of a romantic novel if you're feeling adventurous.
Fall - The best time to elope (hello, golden foliage)
Summer - You'll see more trail access but it starts to get busy!
