If you've recently become engaged, panic might start to settle in with how much planning you will need to start doing but girl, the relish in being engaged for a second! You just said yes to your favorite person, go celebrate.

But you also might have some questions! I hear ya.

Now what?

A lot goes into wedding/elopement planning but it doesn't have to be stressful! I'm going to show you step by step what to do after you get engaged.

First of all, don't panic!

  1. Celebrate together:

  • Take some time to enjoy the moment and celebrate your engagement together. Whether it's a quiet dinner, a weekend getaway, or a small gathering with close friends and family, take in the moment!

  1. Share your exciting news:

  • Share the news with your loved ones. Whether through phone calls, Zoomm, in-person visits etc. let your family and friends know about your engagement! You can even plan an engagement party.

  1. Set a timeline:

  • Talk about the timeline for your wedding or elopement. Consider factors like the season, how much time you need to plan, when you want your date to be and any other considerations.

  1. Determine your budget + priorities:

  • Start discussing your wedding budget. Understanding your financial constraints early on can help guide your decisions throughout the planning process. Have open and honest discussions about your priorities for the wedding. Whether it's the venue, the photographer, or other specific details, understanding each other's preferences can help in decision-making.

  1. Figure out your wedding vibe:

  • Determine if you want an intimate wedding (20-75 guests), elopement (2-20 guests), larger wedding or destination wedding

  1. Choose a date:

  • Figure out what time of year you want to elope or get married and that will narrow down your date. If you have a specific date in mind, start checking the availability of different venues and vendors. If your date is flexible you will have more options during the planning process.

  1. Venues + permits:

  • Start researching potential wedding venues or locations that align with your vision and budget. If you're not planning on a venue and eloping at a state or National Park then you will need a special use permit. You can also elope at an Airbnb!

  1. Hire a photographer:

  • Figure out what photography style you're looking for and hire your photographer! I still have 2024 availability!

  1. Hire your other vendors: • Other vendors to include could be - florist, caterer, private chef, hair and makeup, venue etc.

  2. Plan accommodations and travel:

Do this only if you have all other vendors booked first as your plans could change.

Just remember that wedding/elopement planning is a process, and taking the time to enjoy each step will make the journey more enjoyable. Try not to stress too much! Once you've gotten through most of these steps it won't feel so overwhelming.
