THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ELOPING IN SOUTHEASTERN OREGON  RAE ANN PHOTO | ELOPEMENT & INTIMATE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND PLANNING YOUR ALVORD DESERT ELOPEMENT Getting to the Alvord Desert for your elopement: By plane: Fly into Reno/Tahoe International Airport and then it's a 4 hour and 20 minute drive to the desert Fly into Portland Oregon and drive 8 hours to the desert (sometimes cheaper but more driving) Why the Alvord Desert? The Alvord Desert is surrounded by the Steen Mountains and canyon and is up against Utah's Salt Flats. The desert offers unbeatable 360 views of mountains on the playa and vast BLM land to hike around! Staying in this Southern Oregon Desert: Fields, Oregon is the closet town and includes the Fields Station with access to a motel and house to rent during your stay! The Fields Station is your nearest store and breakfast joint all in one with everything you'll need. Camping in the desert: You will have access to miles and miles of BLM land which means the land is owned by the government so you can camp anywhere where it's marked! Remember to leave no trace while camping and hiking! Just past the Alvord Desert you'll find the Alvord Hot Springs where camping is 75 a night and you get full access to the hot springs. If you want to camp elsewhere you will have to pay $20/person to access the hot springs. Best camping in the Alvord Desert: Frog Hot Springs! *Hikes - Frog Hot Springs trail Finding a natural hot spring! Barnes Warm Springs - Located in the town of Frenchglen (340 miles from Portland) in the Steens Mountain wilderness. It's one of the few places where you can get gas for miles. Below I'm going to cover each season as well as the pros and cons of eloping in all four New England seasons. Hopefully this will give you a good idea about which season to plan your Vermont elopement in and what to expect! VERMONT ELOPEMENT IN THE WINTER: Snowboarding elopement Ok so for those of you who aren't Winter people can skip to Spring below but I'm just going to quickly tell you that there's a lot Winter in Vermont can offer if you're a Winter lover like me. Pros: Snow Snow activities Hot chocolate Cozy vibes Winter hiking - remember "be bold, start cold" Cons: It can get cold af in Vermont Stick season (think "Noah Kahan") VERMONT ELOPEMENT IN THE SPRING: Taylor and Dan Spring in Vermont is so sweet and pure. The trees and flowers start to bloom and the afternoons start to get warmer! It's still just the right amount of cool though. Pros: Everything is starting to get green but won't reach its full green effect until May Lots of fun Spring activities to do! Lots of Spring flower blooms Great temperatures for hiking Cons: There may still be snow in the mountains until late April depending on the snowpack Can get cold at night and in the morning HOW TO BOOK ME FOR YOUR ELOPEMENT: Just head to my contact page and fill out a form or you can email me at raeannphoto056@gmail.com when you're ready to start planning. You can view more info here on how to elope in Saguaro National Park! Saguaro National Park elopement Saguaro National Park Chiricahua National Monument: Known as the "Wonderland of Rocks," this location offers striking rock formations and a more secluded elopement experience. Lake Powell: If you're looking for a water-centric elopement, Lake Powell offers gorgeous blue waters against a backdrop of red rock formations. Superstition Mountains: These mountains offer a rugged desert landscape with stunning views and are located near Phoenix. Remember that many of these locations may require permits for ceremonies. Make sure to check with the local authorities, obtain any necessary permits, and plan ahead to ensure a smooth and memorable elopement experience. Saguaro National Park elopement When should we elope? Soooo, I have been to Arizona during 2/4 seasons, Summer (July) and Fall (November) so here are my thoughts! Fall - Probably one of my favorite times to visit Arizona, it's similar to Winter even into November it gets up to 75 during the day and is generally dry like Winter. There isn't much foliage in the desert but it's still a beautiful time. Winter - Usually warmer places are better to visit during Winter. There are milder temperatures as well as dryer weather. While this is a great time to visit, just know that it's peak time so many other visitors will be around. Summer - With temperatures getting up well past 100 degrees it's not an ideal time to visit. If you're set on Summer we can plan activities focused around sunset or sunrise! Spring - The desert is a beautiful time to visit in the Spring. All the beautiful desert wildflowers will be blooming! One thing to be aware of is the hibernating animals/bugs that have been dormant over the Winter coming out for the sun! The cactus bloom is in May! What if the weather is not great? The only thing I would be worried about is hot temperatures. Hiking in Arizona can be very dangerous especially in Summer when temperatures can get above 100 degrees. I wouldn't worry about rain, it does rain in the desert with the highest rainfall month being August but other than that it's usually too dry! Arizona mountains HOW DO WE BOOK YOU AS OUR ARIZONA ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER? • Tips for how to Plan your 2025 Elopement

PLANNING TIPS FOR YOUR 2025 ELOPEMENT RAE ANN PHOTO | ELOPEMENT & INTIMATE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND As someone who's planning their 2025 elopement I know all the tips to get everything organized and create a stress free elopement. Planning a wedding shouldn't be stressful, it should be everything you've ever dreamed of! Below are some tips to help you get an idea of how to plan your 2025 elopement! 5 PLANNING TIPS TO HELP YOU GET STARTED 1. Reach out to your vendors sooner rather than later Even though you might think that elopement planning doesn't require a ton of planning...it does! As your photographer I work with you to heko plan your timeline and make sure everything is a smooth ride before and on your day so you don't have to worry. Also us vendors book out months, sometimes years in advance so it's always better to reach out sooner rather than later. So stop what you're doing right now and reach out ! 2. Brainstorm elopement activity ideas The first thing I tell my eloping couples to do is sit down and brainstorm ideas + activities they both love doing together. On your day. you can do absolutely anything you want whether it be hiking in the Whites, rock climbing in Utah or taking a helicopter ride in Alaska. Your day is special to you both! 3. Think about where you want to get married Similar to brainstorming elopement activity ideas I tell my couples to also think about where they see themselves standing saying their vows to one another. Is it at the ocean where you got engaged? Is it on top of that mountain where you had your first day? Here are some questions to ask yourself: Do you want your elopement to include stunning views? If inviting family members, do any of them need easily accessible access to locations? Do you have any childhood places you'd love to go back to for your elopement? Are you bringing your pets? Make sure that you're elopement location is pet-friendly Do you want to keep your elopement close to home? If this is meaningful to you then absolutely do it! Do you want to travel abroad? This will add a whole different level of planning 4. Learn your marriage laws in the state you're getting married in Yes, it's important we learn how to legally elope in the state we get married in. For example, in Vermont you as the couple can submit your marriage license to the clerk after it's signed but whereas in Maine that is the officiant's job! So when we work together I will guide you in marriage laws so you don't get lost. Examples: Vermont and New Hampshire don't require witnesses Maine needs to 2 witnesses and does not include your officiant New York state needs 1 witness and it can be your officiant! Self solemnizing states (you can marry yourselves) Colorado Illinois California Maine District of Columbia Kansas Nevada Pennsylvania Wisconsin 5. Figure out your budget Everyone hates the "b" word but it is important to figure out how much you need and want to spend on your wedding. An important question to ask yourselves is what do you value? Maybe you value having beautiful flower arrangements for your wedding or amazing photos - it's a personal preference. HOW TO PLAN YOUR 2025 ELOPEMENT If you think it's too late to elope in 2025, you're wrong!!! You still have sooo much time, so reach out. Steps to plan your elopement Sit down together and figure out where, why and when you're eloping. This will expedite making decisions later down the line. Decide if it will just be you both in attendance or if you will be inviting family Choose your elopement location + date Hire your photographer ASAP Begin planning your elopement Book an travel/accommodations you might need Hire additional vendors HOW DO WE BOOK YOU AS OUR ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER?
