I'm going to show you step by step what to do after you get engaged. First of all, don't panic! Celebrate together: Take some time to enjoy the moment and celebrate your engagement together. Whether through phone calls, Zoomm, in-person visits etc. let your family and friends know about your engagement! You can even plan an engagement party. Set a timeline: Talk about the timeline for your wedding or elopement. Consider factors like the season, how much time you need to plan, when you want your date to be and any other considerations. Determine your budget + priorities: Start discussing your wedding budget. Understanding your financial constraints early on can help guide your decisions throughout the planning process. Have open and honest discussions about your priorities for the wedding. Whether it's the venue, the photographer, or other specific details, understanding each other's preferences can help in decision-making. Figure out your wedding vibe: Determine if you want an intimate wedding (20-75 guests), elopement (2-20 guests), larger wedding or destination wedding Choose a date: Figure out what time of year you want to elope or get married and that will narrow down your date. If you have a specific date in mind, start checking the availability of different venues and vendors. If your date is flexible you will have more options during the planning process. Venues + permits: Start researching potential wedding venues or locations that align with your vision and budget. The White Mountains National Forest has always held a special place in my heart. It's arguably one of the most beautiful parts of New Hampshire and has waterfalls, lakes, rivers and high mountain peaks that look almost similar to Colorado. In the blog I'm going to dish on everything you need to know about eloping in the White Mountains! STEPS TO PLAN YOUR WHITE MOUNTAIN ELOPEMENT: Sit down a visualize where you want to elope - when you picture yourselves on your elopement day where are you standing reading your vows to each other? Think about what time of year you want to elope and this will help narrow down your date! Book your photographer! It's so important that you vibe with your photographer as they'll be with you ALL DAY. Make sure you choose a style you love but most importantly who know's the area you're eloping in. This could include things like bakeries, florists, caterers/private chefs and hair + makeup etc. There are a ton of amazing vendors in that area that I'd love to recommend! Reach out to me and I can let you know who I love working with in the White Mountains Region. Apply for your marriage license and any permits you may need. Create an elopement packing list! This will ensure that you have everything you need for your elopement. Diving deeper, let's take a look into each season in the White Mountains. Fall: One of the best times to elope in the White Mountains is the Fall. Fall in New England in general can get pretty crazy with tourists and leaf peepers. If you're planning an adventure elopement plan on hiking for either sunrise or sunset to avoid the crowds. Winter: This is such a pretty time of year as the snow falls over the mountains. Couples can opt for an adventurous hiking elopement ice climbing or skiing at Cannon Mountain, Wildcat or Sugarloaf! - Planning a St. Pete Beach Elopement
ALL THE TIPS YOU NEED TO HELP YOU PLAN YOUR ST. PETE BEACH ELOPEMENT RAE ANN PHOTO | ELOPEMENT & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND PLANNING YOUR ST. PETE BEACH FLORIDA ELOPEMENT Wanting to plan an elopement in St. Pete Beach but don't know where to start? Here are some steps you can follow to plan your elopement on St. Pete's Beach: Get your marriage license: Before you're able to get married in Florida the first thing you need to do is get your marriage license. This can be obtained at any Florida county clerk's office. Both you and your partner must be there and provide valid identification. Pick a date and time: Consider the weather when searching for your date. Florida has a hot Summer season and a rainy hurricane season so I'd recommend choosing a date sometime in the Fall, Winter + Spring months anywhere between November through April. Select a location: St. Pete's Beach offers scenic ocean landscapes, so choosing a date and time that fits your needs best is important. Popular locations include Sunset Beach, Redington Beach, St Pete's Beach, Upham Beach or Pass-a-Grille Beach. I will work with you to get any permits you may need for your ceremony. Find an Officiant: Hire a wedding officiant to perform the ceremony. Make sure they are authorized to officiate weddings in Florida. *Remember Florida needs two witnesses, so this can be your photographer and officiant! Find a photographer: Capture the special moments by hiring a photographer (aka me!). I know St Pete inside and out and can provide the best locations, vendors and lodging recommendations you'll need for your elopement. Witnesses: Florida requires at least two witnesses to be present at the ceremony. If you're eloping alone, ask your officiant or photographer to act as witnesses. Have a small reception: Plan a cozy beach picnic, or a private celebration at an airbnb with family and friends. Or have a dinner at your favorite restaurant. Best accommodation in the St Pete Beach area: https://bookings-jcresorts.escapia.com/Unit/Details/202718 Add an adventure: Rent kayaks or paddle boards Dolphin tours on a private boat Rent bikes and ride to a secret garden Private sunset cruise St Pete Helicopter tour - Skyway Bridge, Fort Desoto & St. Pete Beaches 8 HOUR ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT IN ST PETE, FLORIDA: 9:00 - 11:00 am Breakfast, get ready, write vows 11:00 - 2:00 pm Bike ride to a secret garden 2:00 - 2:30 pm Ceremony and vows on Upham Beach 3:30 - 5:00 pm Private sunset cruise HOW DO WE HIRE YOU AS OUR FLORIDA ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER? - Littleville Reservoir Intimate Wedding | Sarah + Erik
INTIMATE WEDDING IN HUNTINGTON MASSACHUSETTS RAE ANN PHOTO | ELOPEMENT & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & DESTINATION Sarah + Erik had their New England intimate wedding at Littleville Reservoir (Littleville lake) in Huntington Massachusetts and it was magical. They started their day getting ready at their neighbor's house and then headed to Littleville Lake for their ceremony. They said their vows together with their family and close friends against a mountainous backdrop on top of their favorite dam. Sarah + Erik had been continuously going back to this dam ever since spending their first date together there. For their reception party after their ceremony they took an untraditional twist and went back to their roots with a German wedding tradition called Baumstamm sägen. This is an old German wedding tradition where the couple cuts a log together to represents the first obstacle that the couple must overcome in their marriage. They must work together to “overcome the obstacle” by sawing through the log. I'm still in awe of how truly beautiful this micro wedding. If you want a lake adventure wedding that feels adventurous, raw and intimate then don't hesitate to reach out to me! You deserve a special day to truly capture your moments and personalities and to have it planned and documented in a way that feels like YOU! - How to Leave No Trace during your Elopement
HOW TO FOLLOW THE 7 LEAVE NO TRACE PRINCIPLES DURING YOUR ELOPEMENT RAE ANN PHOTO | ELOPEMENT & INTIMATE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | NEW ENGLAND & BEYOND About Leave No Trace Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics is a national, non-profit educational program to inform people about reducing the impact to the environment caused by outdoor activities. If you are looking or have your elopement outdoors you are probably drawn to earth's natural phenomenal views like mountains, lakes and rivers!!! The way we keep nature so phenomenal is to enjoy the environment sustainably and leave it a better place than we found it for others who can keep coming back to the same gorg spots time after time! If you're planning an elopement especially in a high-impact area like a popular spot in a National Park for example, you have to consider the impact you as well as your elopement or wedding will have in nature. Here are some tips below to keep you in the loop when choosing your elopement location: Make sure that the location you choose is available. Some locations may be off-limits for special events like weddings and elopements. Locations could potentially be damaged, riddled with trash or closed due to restoration of the are. Checking any updates before you decide on your location is incredibly important. Make sure you have permits in place before your decide to elope in your location. Your photographer can help guide you through your permit process. NOW ONTO LEAVE NO TRACE PRINCIPLES There are so many important reasons why you should Leave No Trace during your elopement and practice ethical ways to make sure you minimize your impact on the environment. Here are some tips on how to Leave No Trace during your elopement. Follow the 7 Leave No Trace Principles: https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/ Here are the 7 LNT principles you can familiarize yourself with prior to your elopement! Plan Ahead and Prepare: "Know before you go" Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces: Dispose of Waste Properly: "Carry out what you carry in" Leave What You Find: Minimize Campfire Impact: If fires are allowed and you plan to have one, use established fire rings or bring a portable stove. Keep fires small and ensure they are completely extinguished. Respect Wildlife: Be Considerate of other Visitors: Use Eco-Friendly Products: If you're doing a confetti sendoff I recommend using bubbles 100% but you can use leaves and birdseed. I wouldn't recommend flower petals because most of the time, they won't be native to the area. Other things you can do to promote LNT during your elopement: Educate Your Guests: If you have any guests that are attending your elopement, educate them about the 7 leave no trace principles so that they can follow them along with you. Hire Vendors that share in LNT principles: If you're working with other vendors (caterers, musicians etc.), choose vendors who share in your goals to commit to Leave No Trace. Post-Ceremony Cleanup: Ensure that you leave the area as clean as or cleaner than you found it. Double-check for any items or traces that may have been left behind.
